毗盧禪寺本年度光明燈自即日起開放報名登記,「夫光明者,本具自性般若智光也」。今以供養光明於佛前之發心,內啟光明之自性;以本具智光破除無明煩惱,外承佛光本願加被,回遮一切業緣障礙;更以供養三寶,護持寺院之功德令福慧具增,共結勝因。

Registration for the Illumination Lamp will be available starting today.

Illumination is the wisdom light of one’s primordial self-nature. Through the
skillful means of offering the Illumination Lamp to the Buddha, the light of
innate wisdom is revealed to dispel the darkness of vexation and ignorance.
All obstructive conditions are removed through the power of blessings
bestowed by the Buddhas; all wholesome connections and seeds are planted
through the merit of offering to the Triple Jewels and the Monastery, sowing
the most precious seed of enlightenment.

毗盧禪寺以闡揚禪宗心法為宗旨,致力於禪宗心法的傳播弘揚,讓大眾認識禪法,進而學習禪法,並以禪三、禪七及禪修課程為教育、鍛鍊手段,為令大眾能深入心性的真義。
道場的弘法延續來自十方檀越善信之護持,無論是護持三寶、建設道場,亦或檀越發心道場之供花、供果、打齋供眾,亦或信施薦立消災、超薦牌位、光明燈之祈願祈福,皆是耕耘自己的一畝福田。

With the aim to expound and propagate Zen Buddhism, Vairocana Zen
Monastery is dedicated to the teaching of Zen by hosting three-day and
seven-day Zen retreats and meditation classes as the means of education.
These methods guide the learner to probe deeper into the essence of the
Mind.
The monastery can continuously spread the Buddha Dharma through
donations from all directions. Whether it is to support the triple gems, the
construction of the temple, to offer flowers, fruits, and meals to the public, or
to install the blessing tablets and prayer illumination lights, all of these cultivate one’s own merits.

General Announcement: Commemoration Ceremony On The
Thirteen Hundred and Twelfth Anniversary Of The Parinirvana Of
Da–Jian Master, The Sixth Patriarch Of Zen

Chinese Zen began with Bodhidharma, was passed down from master to
master until the Sixth Patriarch Hui–Neng, who then transmitted the dharma in
southern China. He explained the Mind, revealed the true essence, and
uncovered the priority of sudden enlightenment and direct achievement —
spreading the Buddha’s most important Mind principles. He spent his whole life
teaching countless disciples, each changing a region, which eventually resulted
in the Five Schools and Seven Sects of Zen Buddhism. Today the dharma river
of Hui–Neng is not only blossoming and bearing fruit in China and Asia, it is being
propagated all over the world – universally soothing the restless agitations of
practitioners’ thoughts, and guiding them to enlighten to their original Minds. In
addition, the ideology of Zen has become a significant part of Chinese culture
and has given rise to far–reaching and indelible influences on Eastern and
Western philosophy, arts, academic learning and thinking. Hence, the Sixth
Patriarch, along with Confucius and Lao–Tzu, have been jointly named, “The
Three Great Saints of the East.” The Sixth Patriarch also enjoys the majestic
status of having been classified by Europe’s academic world as one of the
“World’s Top Ten Thinkers.”

This year is the thirteen hundred and twelfth anniversary of the parinirvana
of the Sixth Patriarch of Zen. In recalling fondly his dedication to all living beings
and his vow to propagate the dharma to benefit all life, this monastery will
conduct, with sincere gratefulness, a Commemoration Ceremony on The
Thirteen Hundred and twelfth Anniversary Of The Parinirvana Of Da–Jian Master,

the Sixth Patriarch Of Zen. The ceremony will take place on September 21,

2025 (Sunday) at 9:30am. During the ceremony, Venerable Master Miao Tsan,
the abbot of Vairocana Zen Monastery, will lead all participants in the chanting of
the Sixth Patriarch’s Dharma Jewel Platform Sutra, as well as conduct offerings
to the Buddha for the monastic community.

May all practitioners and donors participate partake in the joy of the sublime
dharma, and dedicate all merits toward world peace, the prosperity and harmony
of all nations and citizens, and the elimination of disasters. May all dharma
supporters and donors enjoy auspiciousness at all times, with ever–increasing
merit and wisdom, leading to the ultimate attainment of Bodhi.

Announcement of Vairocana Zen Monastery
2025 Lunar Month of July Puja Service for the Deceased

On Saturday, September 06, 2025 at 4PM, the Vairocana Zen Monastery will commence
the Dharma Ceremony of Lunar Month of July Puja Service for the Deceased.
Venerable Master Miao Tsan will preside over the ceremony, leading the recitation of
the “Buddha Speaks of Amitabha Sutra”, performing food offering and the
deliverance ceremony for the deceased. The Dharma ceremony is now open for the
registration of memorial tablets. Those wishing to register a tablet, please promptly
send the information back via email.

Although the current pandemic has eased, considering the possibility of
transmission, we aim to avoid large gatherings. Therefore, we hope all practitioners
and faithful followers will connect via the class link (Zoom) to participate in the group
practice or independently recite the “Buddha Speaks of Amitabha Sutra” on the day
of the Dharma assembly. Through the sincere intention of the assemblage, by the
Buddha’s vow to enlighten all beings, and the positive influence of the Three Jewels,
this ceremony imparts merits to all beings and dissolves the three obstacles for the
living. Furthermore, it helps the deceased ancestors and adversaries attain a
wholesome rebirth and reach the pure land. It benefits the participants and their
families by eliminating karmas, and accumulating peace, merits and wisdom. Finally,
all merits accrued through this practice are dedicated to alleviating worldly suffering
and bringing forth health and peace to the society.
