Vairocana Zen Monastery Respectfully Announces the
Welcoming of the Buddha’s Relics and
the Enshrinement Ceremony

When the Buddha was in the world, I sank into delusion,
After the Buddha’s Parinirvana, I was born;
Repent this body’s many karmic obstacles,
Not seeing the golden body of the Tathagata.

The Nirvana Sutra states: “With the extraordinary Vajra Samadhi, the Vajra body is self-shattered, yet not  abandoning great compassion, relics are still distributed.” The World-Honored One manifested countless within the realm of Suchness with the mind of great compassion, widely liberating sentient beings. However, now we
are far away from the time of saints. It is difficult for sentient beings to personally witness the Buddha’s true body. Fortunately, although the World-Honored One demonstrated Parinirvana, relics were left behind to spread throughout the world, enabling sentient beings to gaze upon them, and make offerings. Through seeing the relics  and thinking of seeing the Buddha, one should arouse thoughts of how rare and difficult it is to encounter, and even develop the determination to vigorously and diligently advance in their practice.

It happens to be an extraordinarily auspicious opportunity; our monastery has been fortunate to receive the relics of the Buddha from Sri Lanka for enshrinement. Therefore, we solemnly announce the commencement of the ‘Respectfully Welcoming the Buddha’s Relics and Enshrinement Ceremony ’on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM. We hope that everyone will approach the Dharma ceremony with a pure and reverent mind, praying for its successful completion. With diligent engagement in meritorious practices and efforts, we pay homage to the Buddha’s relics. May the merits and virtues of the assembly’s purity and diligent practice be dedicated to world peace,national prosperity, and the elimination of disasters. May the practitioners and Dharma
supporters experience auspiciousness at all times, and may blessings and wisdom be perfected as we together attain Bodhi.

Respectfully praise and rejoice in the Dharma
